Lake Norman is the most popular water destination for Charlotteans! On Friday, June 17th the Charlotte Symphony will perform its Summer Spirit Series in the idyllic setting on the shores of Lake Norman. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket or enjoy the concessions as Dad sits back and enjoys movie scores as well as classical music. Boating dads can anchor in the Energy Explorium Cove. Also in the Lake Norman area, dads who love to race will have fun at the Race Pit Kart Racing.Dads race free on June 19th!

Ray’s Splash Planet offers fun in the sun while staying cool in the pool! Dads splash for free on Father’s Day at this exciting water park!

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is offering dads and families an especially masculine day in the gardens! Along with strolling the beautiful garden paths, dads can enjoy a classic car show, beer tasting and live music! Food trucks and hands-on activities for the family will also be available!

The National Whitewater Center offers all outdoor activities Father’s Day weekend, including The Brew Stash Bash on Saturday, the 18th! The Brew Dash Competitive Heat at 9:00am, followed by the Brew Stash Breakfast at 10:00am will begin the morning’s activities. Music, and regional and national craft beer tasting begins at 1:00pm.

Take me out to the ballgame! The Charlotte Knights will be playing the Indianapolis Indians on June 19th at the BB&T Ballpark. All dads are invited to a pre game catch on the fields!

Charlotte is offering a diversified selection of Father’s Day destinations sure to please all amazing dads! Whether your dad is geek, glamorous, gladiator or gourmet the Queen City has a Father’s Day destination for you!

Dads that are king of the kitchen or gladiator of the grill will enjoy a culinary experience where he can practice and learn new culinary skills! Sur la table located in Southpark Mall offers cooking classes geared towards dads and families. On June 20th at 10:00 am sweets are on the table with a hands on presentation. At 2:30pm Dad can learn to Cut Like a Pro with important chef’s tools and basic knife skills. Date night, also on June 20th, starts at 6:30pm and will offer hands-on Sizzling Summer Grilling. Cooking With Dad offers family fun on June 21st at Sur la table! Ages 5 and older can join in the cooking fun with delicious results featuring quesadillas, grilled sliders and dessert!

The Southpark area also offers cooking classes for dad at Upstream in Phillips Place. The June 20th class is 10am-noon, Maki and Beyond- Sushi 102.

Uptown culinary fun on June 20th is with a spoon full of sugar! The Cocoa Lab at the Ritz Carlton offers a wonderful, one of a kind experience along side an award- winning chef! From 8am-noon dads can create Summer Fruit Classics including plum tarte tatin, almond peach cobbler and vanilla-scented quinoa salad.

The Levine Museum of the New South in Uptown will have a presentation of Conexiones: Exchanges Across Cultures. This exciting exhibition will be an exploration of Latino culture through food, music, dance and art. The first installment will be on June 21st at 2:30pm and will explore the vast array of Latin American food with chefs and home cooks from several regions! The presentation is free.

Sports dads have a lot to look forward to in Charlotte over the Father’s Day weekend! The active dad who is still a kid at heart can join in the fun at Adventure Landing Family Fun Entertainment Park in Pineville. Outdoor go carts, bumper boats a mini gold course and arcade are just part of the fun at this kid centric park! Open Sunday-Thursday 10am-10pm and Friday/Saturday 10am-midnight.

The U.S. Whitewater Center offers water sports that include kayaking, canoeing, whitewater rafting and paddle boarding. Mountain biking and running trails are open dawn to dusk and for those wanting a bird’s eye view, zip lining and canopy tours.

The Richard Petty Driving Experience is perfect for the thrill- seeking dads! Dads can ride shotgun or drive themselves 8 t 50 laps at up to 160mph at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Baseball dads can enjoy the warm summer evenings watching the Charlotte Knights take on the Indianapolis Indians at the BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte June 19th-21st.

The Golf Club at Ballantyne offers a quick respite for busy dads in this beautiful area of South Charlotte. The driving range is open from 7am until 6pm. Golf ball tokens can be purchased in the Golf Pro Shop. Each token offers approximately 35 balls.

Regent Park Golf Club, just minutes from Ballantyne in Fort Mill, S.C. offers a 3,000 square foot practice putting green and a 120 tees driving range. Plus, dad can fill up with less expensive gas while he’s there!

Carolina Lakes Golf Club is just south of Ballantyne off Hwy 521. They are beautifully situated in the popular Sun City retirement community. A popular, newer course, Carolina lakes has a grass tee driving range and practice area, including a large putting green.

Dads who listen to the music and enjoy a good laugh will be able to pull out the air guitar and chuckle in the Queen City over Father’s Day weekend! The Charlotte Symphony will have dads toe tapping to classical film scores on June 21st at Symphony Park.

Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked The World will be at Discovery Place in Uptown through September. this visually gorgeous presentation traces the guitar from its initial creation through present day.Over 60 amazing guitars are on display and will have collectors and guitarists alike in awe. Charlotte men and women have long enjoyed the pleasures of a fantastic game of golf on fantastic courses!

Charlotte offers many pristine private and public courses for the devoted golfer with nothing but serious intentions and many more casual courses for fun golfing excursions.

Top ten courses in the Charlotte area can be divided into public and private courses.

South Charlotte offers The Golf Club at Ballantyne as a wonderful public course serving golf enthusiasts of all skill levels. The Golf Club is a favorite PGA, 6,740 yard, par 71, championship course offering a challenging, fair course with water features. The country club setting appeals to those wanting a higher end course.

Carolina Lakes Golf Club is a newer addition to the Charlotte public golf scene. The Carolina Lakes is just minutes from the Ballantyne area in the beautiful Sun City Community. The course is a 7,024-yard, par 72-championship course. The course maintains a G2Bent Grass greens and Bermuda fairways and was nominated for Golf Digests Best New courses.

Also just minutes from Ballantyne, in the quaint town of Fort Mill is Springfield Golf Club. The 6,906-yard, par 72 public golf course is considered a beautiful course with hills, woods, and streams.

Deer Brook Golf Course is a 6,950-yard, par 72 public course in Shelby. Deer Brook is considered well worth the 40-minute drive from Charlotte, with very accommodating staff and excellent greens.

Olde Sycamore in Southeast Charlotte is a 6,965-yard, par 72, and semi private course. Nestled among beautiful Carolina pines, this is public course is one of Charlotte’s more well maintained, challenging courses.

Private courses in Charlotte are world renown! From the famous Quail Hollow to the Myers Park Country Club, the Queen City reigns in golf.

Quail Hollow, host to the Wells Fargo Championship, is the most well known of Charlotte’s premier private golf courses. Quail Hollow is a 7,114-yard, par 72 course. It is a private equity facility with “ Accompanied By Member” guest policy.

Ballantyne Country Club Golf Course is a private, member owned club. The course is designed for all skill levels 7,034 yard, and par 72. Residency within the community is not required for membership and is open to the entire Charlotte area.

Piper Glen Country Club is a private, non-equity course. The beautiful course, designed by Arnold Palmer is a 6,883-yard, par 72 course located in South Charlotte.

Myers Park Country Club is a traditional, private country club owned by its members. Myers Park Golf Course features a 7,120-yard, par 71 course. Considered a tight course, there are water hazards in play on five holes. A member must accompany guests.

Charlotte Country Club is located in the historic Plaza-Midwood area, just three miles from Uptown Charlotte. The golf course is 7,355yard, par71 Donald Ross course. The course is considered the oldest and most elite of all the private clubs in Charlotte. Founded in 1910 and restored in 2009, the beautiful course remains one of the most sought after memberships in Charlotte.

Classical Dads can enjoy the Summer Pops in the Park at Symphony Park. Prelude starts at 7:00 pm with the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra and A SUMMER POPS FANTASIA begins at 8:15pm. The kids will recognize DUKAS-The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. All Dads are free on Father’s Day with purchase of one full price ticket, and kids under 18 are free.

Dads wanting to enjoy the Carolina blue skies near water can choose from several favorite fishing spots!

 Fishing action can be found at Lake Norman, Lake Wylie, Mountain Island Lake and one of many Union Lakes. Ramsey Creek Park on Lake Norman offers a fishing pier and 43.7 acres of Waterfront Park for the kids to run around and enjoy. Ramsey Creek Park is located at 18441 Nantz Road. McDowell Nature Center and Preserve offers fishing and camping fun. McDowell is locate at 15222 York Road.
