Personally, it’s one of my least favorite four letter words! But the time is fast approaching that many of you will be setting your sites on conquering the Christmas crunch of gift buying and giving.
One increasingly popular idea is to focus not on giving gifts of things but instead on providing memorable experiences. And guess what? It’s a lot easier to shop for the “experience” type presents anyway! (Don’t worry – there are tips for you die-hard mall shoppers below!) For the rest of us, we can shop online instead of waiting “on line” (as all you Jersey-girl friends of mine say – we Midwesterners and Southerners refer to it as waiting “in line”). So instead of another nice picture frame or other trinket for your friend or relative’s home, how about tickets to an adventure they can take a picture of – some opportunity they might not have taken advantage of, some activity that takes them a little out of their normal realm…
Museums, shows, galleries, sports tickets, white-water rafting days, mini beach getaways, golf outings, movie & dinner certificates, Tweetsie Railroad for the kids – the possibilities are endless! For some up-to-date Charlotte area options, check out all the links available at www.charlottesgotalot.com. And grab a stack of cute and colorful fortune cookie boxes for packaging your certificates/gift cards and you’re ready to go!
Ok, you’re the type of person that just wouldn’t feel right if you didn’t head out for that early Black Friday shopping – here’s the scoop you need –
The earliest and biggest bang for your early morning buck is going to be the 11:45 pm Thursday opening of Concord Mills (in Concord, northeast of Charlotte, but easy to get to from south Charlotte – head up the 485-OUTER LOOP til it ends, head N on 85 toward GREENSBORO and take the first exit #49/Bruton Smith Blvd. and you can’t miss it on your left). Concord Mills has all kinds of outlet stores – see www.concordmills.com for all the details. There’s a really nice TJMaxx store there – the highlight for me the few times I’ve gone! Of note, the Best Buy there doesn’t open until 5 am Friday, and Bass Outlet opens at 6 am…
Kohl’s (www.kohls.com) has a couple of locations convenient to south Charlotte including the Pavilion on South Blvd. at 485 and also on Independence Blvd. in Matthews. Apparently, they’re throwing open their doors at 3 am Friday – have fun! There’s a Michael’s store near the South Blvd. Kohl’s and they sometimes offer crazy Black Friday hours as well – I’d guess they’ll be opening around 4 or 5 (do they offer coffee when you’re out shopping so early???).
Next on the timeline in Carolina Place Mall in Pineville, basically at the intersection of 485 and Hwy 51/Pineville-Matthews Rd. They open at 6am Friday and offer the usual array of mall shops, with Belk, Dillards, Macy’s, and J.C. Penney as anchor stores. Check out www.carolinaplace.com to see if you’ll find Santa up and at his station that early.
Finally, I guess no one’s getting up early to unlock the doors at South Park Mall as they won’t be opening until 8 am on Friday. However, with that said, you’ll find the swankiest selection of stores at this pretty mall, at the corner of Sharon and Fairview Roads. There’s Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Tiffany, J. Crew, Coach, Michael Kors, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade and more! So dust off that plastic and get ready to roll! You can shop all the other options before these places even open!
And if you’d rather just shop for a NEW HOUSE, just call us at 704.541.2500 and one of our Bon Maison Properties girls will be ready to help! Have a safe, happy, and blessed Thanksgiving!!
