Charlotte offers respite from its hot, yet beautiful, summertime with it’s cool, yet hot, comedy scene!

Beat the Southern heat with Ralphie May on July 29-30 at the Comedy Zone. Ralphie’s comedic timing resulted in a standing ovation on the Tonight Show and his performance on the first season of NBC’s hit reality series “Last Comic Standing” propelled him into success. This show is for 18t audience members.

Also at the Comedy Zone on August1-2 is Dave Attell. Attell is the popular creator and host of Comedy Central’s travelogue series Insomniac with Dave Attell. Named one of Entertainment Weekly Magazine’s 25 Funniest People in America, Attell will be sure to get you chuckling. For 18 and older.

Family friendly giggling with a Southern dinner menu can be found at the IMPROV CHARLOTTE Comedy show at Upstage in Charlotte’s popular art district of NoDa. This most touted improve comedy troupe will perform their monthly comedy show on Friday, August 1. All ticket proceeds go to charity.

The Duke Energy Theater is offering some guffaws for mature audiences through August 2 with the funny “Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight”. The award winning farce is soon to be launched nationally as a television series. This entertaining bedroom comedy is best suited for mature audiences.

The Charlotte Comedy Theater offers an ensemble of comedians ready and willing to take on the hilarious unpredictability of improvised scenes and games. Shows are every Friday and Saturday night 8-9:30pm .

The always outstanding Funny or Die Oddball and Curiosity Festival has one of the best line ups of comedians offered at one venue. The PNC Music Pavilion will be hosting the comedy festival on Saturday, August 9 at 5:00pm. Scheduled to perform are: Louis CK, Aziz Ansari, Hannibal Buress, Chris Hardwick and more! The laughs will be nonstop!

The Levine Center: Knight Theater will host comedian Anjelah Johnson Live on Friday, August 15. This beautiful and hilarious Mexican Native American comedic actress will have you rolling in the aisle! Most famous for her characters on the MADtv sketch comedy series and making one of the most successful, viral comedy videos “Nail Salon”, Johnson’s stand-up routine is riotous!

Charlotte’s University Area ranked 6th in the country.
